Bereavement Support
It is often said that people don’t “get over” their grief, but learn to live again around it. While we will have all lost someone we love, we can feel very lonely in our grief. We can feel numb, or disorientated, or angry, or experience low mood. Everybody’s experience of grief is different, and our reactions to grief will vary from person to person. There is no one way to grieve. Our reaction to grief can surprise and confuse us, and seemingly ambush us at odd times, sometimes long after we think we have established a new equilibrium.
Bereavement Support Group
This is an informal course that runs fortnightly, on the alternate Wednesdays to the drop-in, 1.30pm - 3pm in the Parish Centre to help those who have lost someone dear to them make sense of their grief. Their loss may be very recent, or a very long time ago. The loved one might be a spouse, parent, child, brother or sister, or any relative or friend. There may well be multiple losses. Each session starts with discussion of a bereavement related topic, and then course members share some aspects of their grief journey if they wish. There is something about sharing our experiences with each other that is profoundly helpful.
Bereavement Drop-in
This is an informal group that runs fortnightly, on alternate Wednesdays to the support group, 1.30pm - 3pm in the Parish Centre, where people support and encourage one another. It is open to anyone who has experienced loss or bereavement. The main focus of the group is "living well with bereavement".
For more details about either the support group or drop-in, please contact the parish office.
