The Anker's House Museum

The Anker's House Museum is a wonderful compact and informative museum attached to the Parish Church, where in the Middle Ages an Anchorite would have lived.

It is open from Easter Monday to the end of October, Monday to Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. when stewards are on duty.

Opening times depend on whether there are services/weddings/funerals taking place. There is regularly a service at 10.45am on Thursday mornings. It lasts approximately one hour as do weddings and funerals. You can check times with the Parish Office, before visiting, if you wish.

It is closed in the winter months, except by arrangement.

Sadly there is no wheelchair access to the upper room which is reached by a spiral staircase.

Parties may visit, but only by prior arrangement, to enable us to have sufficient stewards on duty and to check that there will be no church services in progress.

A rota system operates for the small group of volunteer Church & Anker's House Stewards. They work either morning or afternoon for about 3 hours.

Contact:- Mrs. Doreen Yeates for further information or to book a party.
