Bible Society

The Bible Society is a world wide organization. One vital work is the translation of the Bible into many languages. Another is the distribution of free gospels, these going into prisons, to refugees and anywhere there is a need.
The Bible Society has an ecumenical group of supporters here in Chester-le-Street.

At the beginning of each year, Bible Society representatives of each involved church in Chester-le-Street meet.
They supply dates for diaries, of the events they have planned.

Each church is responsible for their own events but gets encouragement and support from the other churches.

The money raised from the church events goes directly to Bible Society.

The Parish Church of Saint Mary and Saint Cuthbert is very fortunate in having a band of faithful supporters .

They are always willing to help with our fundraising events.
Over the past thirty years these have included a Sunday School Bible quiz, Bible in Bloom and many musicals and a yearly auction.
